The Process
In general, HealthySeal can only be sprayed to an open surface. It will stick to wood, concrete, metal, plastic, drywall, and many other materials. However, the cavity to be filled must be open on one side as the expansion (108 times its initial size) of the product is powerful enough to damage drywall or other materials if they are in its expansion path.
Prior to a job our crew will air seal the perimeter of all windows and doors with a low expansion can foam.
We then cover all windows, doors, and other valuable items with plastic to ensure that they aren’t damaged by overspray.
The foam is sprayed against the surface by one of our certified applicators. Uncured foam has the look and consistency of pancake batter.
Within fifteen seconds of spraying, the insulation completes its expansion into all gaps in the substrate and is nearly entirely cured.
Shortly thereafter our crew will shave insulation back to allow for proper drywall installation (if necessary).
At the end of the phase all scrap is cleaned up and taken away as is the masking materials on the windows and doors.
There is typically a second visit in the case of new homes for insulation of the attic and basement rim joist area. This visit requires very little prep and clean-up work and is much shorter in duration.
Overall, a typical new home installation takes 3-4 days.
