LaPolla FoamLok™ 2000

FoamLok 2000 is a 2 LB density closed cell foam that has almost no vapor or air permeability. The product in and of itself is considered a vapor barrier by Code.  FL2000 is a 2-part spray applied polyurethane cellular foam plastic.  The product is sprayed on as a liquid, expands, and cures within minutes.  The major differences between FL2000 closed cell foam and FL 500 open cell foam are as follows:

  • Aged R-value of 6.2 per inch of depth (open cell is 3.9 per inch)
  • Vapor Barrier (Open Cell allows vapor to move through in greater amounts)
  • Structural (open cell foam has the consistency of angel food cake)
  • More Expensive (more materials are needed to produce an "R" of Closed Cell)

Although FL2000 is suitable for almost any use, our typical installs of this product include:

  • Commercial coolers and freezers where moisture control is difficult (high vapor drive)
  • Older structures where high R-value is needed in a limited space
  • Crawl spaces where moisture is significant
  • Areas where foam may take a physical beating and strength is needed

Energsmart Accredited to Offer Energy Star Program

July 2, 2008

Energsmart Insulation, a Buffalo-based applicator of spray foam insulation, earned accreditation today from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). BPI is the organization that determines an individual or company’s level of expertise in building science.

Accreditation by BPI is necessary to offer the numerous rebates and low interest loan programs offered by NYSERDA (New York State Energy Reduction and Development Authority) through their Energy Star program.

“It is an honor for us to be accredited by the BPI” stated John Bartlo, President and CEO of Energsmart. “Our business has grown extensively since we started it in 2004. This accreditation gives us high marks from an independent source, effectively telling the market what we’ve known from the start — that we are experts when it comes to building science — and our customers can take comfort in that.”

The energy star program has benefits available for all customers, regardless of their income.
